EASTER WEDDING AT BEAUTIFUL COOMBE LODGE

Romantic, captivating and unapologetically enchanting.

COOMBE LODGE - ONE OF SOMERSET'S FINEST WEDDING VENUES

Set amidst 15 acres of immaculately landscaped gardens, Coombe Lodge was the stunning venue for Tara and Giuseppe's wedding. My job as a wedding photographer doesn't get much better than this. It was a privilege to be asked by Tara and Giuseppe to be their Coombe Lodge wedding photographer. An incredible day to be part of at this beautiful venue.

Nestled at the foot of the Mendip Hills and boasting stunning views of the Chew Valley, it is easy to see why Coombe Lodge is such a sought after wedding venue in the South West. Originally built back in the 1920's, Coombe Lodge has been faithfully restored to a beautiful contemporary venue, while still retaining a 'Great Gatsby-like' elegance from nearly a century ago.

I didn't actually meet Tara or Giuseppe before the wedding day. Giuseppe works in the music industry and found me through the agency that sell my celebrity pics. They were looking for natural and relaxed wedding photography, and didn't want cheesy staged photo's. I spotted at least four other professional photographers attending as guests, so no pressure. Pressure is for tyres : )

Talking of pressure and tyres....the only hiccup of the day occured early on. En route to the ceremony 'Beryl The Beast' - the ex-London Transport double decker bus hired to take guests to the Church. One more trip seemed to be beyond the old girl. She decided to down tools and conked out on a narrow lane. Range Rovers were rounded up and an evacuation of Beryl was carried out in an orderly fashion. The wedding went ahead on time and Tara was blissfully unaware as to what had taken place as she walked down the aisle. Vows were exchanged at St Andrews Church in Blagdon village. Built in the 15th century, this Grade II Listed building has all the atmosphere one would expect, and the village itself is chocolate-box pretty.

Back to Coombe Lodge, where guests enjoyed a celebratory drinks reception held in the elegant wood-pannelled lounge and gallery, with an open fire, grand piano and a classical guitarist. The unpredictable British weather was unfortunately all too predictable. Miraculously the clouds cleared and it stopped raining during the only time we had for the group photo's outside.

It was a day full of energy and fun. Speeches can often be the highlight of a wedding and Giuseppe's brother delivered a classic Best Man's speech. 90's boybands, Cousin It from The Addams Family and Olive from On The Buses improvised into the script at the last minute. It was worthy of a stand-up comedian. The entertainment was of the highest quality thanks I suspect to Giuseppe's music biz connections with two DJ's and then a cracking live band fronted by Ortis Deley of The Gadget Show. What a great singer, Mr Multi-Talented! The dancefloor was soon filled with Tara's dancer colleague's. A great end to a great wedding.

WEDDINGS AT THIS INCREDIBLE VENUE

It's not too difficult to understand why Coombe Lodge is among the top wedding photography Somerset venues. It is 'exclusively' yours. From expert chefs who craft the most incredible dishes using fresh, local produce only, to event managers who make the day as relaxing and memorable as possible, and exclusive use of the accomodation, and lush, picture-perfect gardens. The moment you set foot in the grounds, you're greeted by the most tranquil oasis - a haven for wedding ceremonies. And the best part is, it's only 4 miles away from Bristol Airport - and just 8 mils from the M5.

Couples get to choose from a variety of gorgeous chandelier lit wedding ceremony rooms, each offering unique views of the garden. Alternatively, you can always go for an outdoor ceremony, right in the heart of one of the tranquil and serene gardens, with a picturesque stone archway looming overhead. There is also a charming Music Room lined with large windows that afford jaw-dropping views and the ability to accomodate as many as 160 seated wedding guests, with more for an evening wedding party. Additional rooms can be booked which act as an entertainment area, children's play area or a dedicated tea and coffee lounge.
